Maggie’s House is a unique shelter dedicated to young adults, ages 17 to 21.
Maggie’s House Shelter provides safe housing to allow the at-risk youth to finish High School or to pursue a college degree. The clients come from uncaring homes, some have had a substance abuse past, and some have nowhere to live. Three very dedicated staff members teach the Lakota culture and traditions. The youths are educated in life skills and healthy eating habits, including cooking on a small budget. They are also taught how to budget and are assisted in finding jobs and housing. All are given an opportunity to better themselves and hope for a brighter future.
Lakota Friends Circle, along with partner groups, have provided beds and dressers, a brand new furnace, assistance with utility bills, household linens, clothing, and foods.
They are housed in an old building in dire need of repairs. As shown in the photos below, the outside needs new siding, windows, window screens, gutters, etc. The total costs of materials is $12,801.

Exterior Repairs:
✓ $198 will buy screening and wood to repair the windows.
✓ $323 will buy the exterior trim for the windows.
✓ $438 will buy sheets of siding and posts.
✓ $1,042.15 will buy gutters and downspouts.
✓ $2,136 will buy exterior grade paint.
Fence:
✓ $118 buys one panel – $5,664 buys the 48 panels needed
✓ $990 will buy the 54 posts required
✓ $1,358.40 will buy the concrete to make the 54 footers
✓ $107 will buy the screws and gate hardware
