Winters in South Dakota are harsh and long. With homes barely heated and poorly insulated, the temperatures can be dangerously low even indoors.
Organizations we serve.
- Blankets – Warm blankets, quilts, afghans, and comforters. Toddler to queen size including larger lap blankets for elders.
- Outerwear – Warm coats, hoodies, snow suits and ski pants for child to adult.
- Clothing – Warm pants, flannel/fleece shirts, long underwear, sweatshirts for child to adult.
- Accessories – Hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, cowls, ski masks, any winter accessory welcome for child to adult.
- Shoes/Boots – Winter boots and boots/shoes over the ankle, toddler to adult.
- Socks and Underwear – Ongoing need on the Rez. Sizes toddler to adult. Slipper socks are good for those cold floors in homes.
- Toiletries – Lip balms, skin lotion, toothpaste and toothbrushes, soap, towels and washcloths, shampoo and conditioner.
Please note that the Lakotas are generally larger people. When making or purchasing clothing, it is best to focus on Large and XL sizes. For babies, it is best to send sizes from 3 months and up.
